The UK’s Angel Investing ecosystem has been growing steadily in the recent years — last year, as a source of funding, angel investing actually overtook crowdfunding. As the VCs & PE firms sit on the sidelines given the market downturn and increased uncertainty, the angels can thrive on the higher-risk early stage opportunities.

Some of the biggest unicorns of today — Slack, Uber, Airbnb, WhatsApp — were all born during the crisis, and it is thanks to Angel investors as well that they secured the first, earliest cheques allowing the companies to grow.
